Against clearing trees

At a village council meeting this week, several residents expressed their opposition to clearing of trees in a section of Poland Municipal Forest, according to a village official.

The clearing is necessary for workers to access an area, near the College Lane forest entrance, where a sanitary sewer line is being replaced. The county has an easement there.

Mahoning County Sanitary Engineering Department is overseeing the project to replace a 24-inch line to which numerous commercial and residential properties are connected. J.S. Bova Excavating LLC of Struthers is the project’s contractor.
