March 19 hearing set on water suit settlement

YOUNGSTOWN — A March 19 hearing will allow Youngstown Water Department customers to voice their opinions about the settlement of a class action lawsuit.

The city settled the lawsuit between Youngstown and Kathy Miller of Boardman, which alleged the city illegally used its water and wastewater money for economic development, by agreeing to issue credits totalling $1,450,000 in an equal amount to each current water department customer.

The hearing to determine whether the settlement is fair will take place at 10 a.m. on March 19 at the Mahoning County Courthouse.
