Former Traficant aide to begin prison sentence

YOUNGSTOWN

A former aide to the late U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. reported to the Mahoning County jail Monday to begin a two-year prison sentence.

Linda Kovachik, 70, of Flagler Lane received the sentence for stealing from a 76-year-old with dementia.

Prosecutors said Kovachik stole about $100,000.

The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office will transfer her into the custody of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
