Buhl Park hosts Winter Festival on Sunday

Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, Pa., will host its Winter Fest from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday . There will be a variety of activities to include “Sandy’s South Pole,” featuring penguin bowling, penguin-style racing and penguin crafts. Staff and volunteers from Sandy’s Place, Buhl Park’s Nature Explore Outdoor Learning Center organized the festival.

There also will be dogsled demonstrations; a Live Bird Exposition by Tamarack Wildlife Center at 2 p.m. in the Casino Ballroom; and a maple tree tap demonstration provided by Coryea’s Maple Products at 1 p.m.

A children’s bird walk, lead by Bill the Birdman, will take place at 9 a.m. for a chance to see many of the 106 varieties of birds in the park. Walk is free and binoculars are suggested.

Skating on Lake Julia is a favorite request but can only be done if the ice is 12-inches thick. If skating is allowed anyone wishing to skate must bring their own. For information, call www.buhlfarmpark.com or visit the park’s Facebook page.
