Simon dinner

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will host the Rev. Lonnie K.A. Simon Dinner at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. Dinner reservations are $15 and can be made by calling the church office at 330-747-2125. The deadline for making reservations is Monday. The program will pay tribute to the late Rev. Lonnie Simon, former pastor of New Bethel and will focus on the accomplishments he made during the civil-rights movement and struggles for social justice. Legacy awards will be presented to four individuals who have demonstrated community and outreach efforts. The church will also unveil a capital-improvements campaign. Funds are to be used for improvements, renovation and overall functions of the church.
