New utility pole installed on Route 304

Crews installed a new utility pole on state Route 304 about a mile away from Bellwick Bowl after the driver of an SUV struck a utility pole Friday morning.

Though the pole was knocked out of the ground, it appears the power lines were intact. The front of the vehicle was crumpled, but the scene was clear except for workers installing the pole by noon.

Details of the accident and the condition of the driver were not available by press time Friday night.
