Mother, daughter charged in theft

BOARDMAN

A mother-daughter duo police arrested Thursday night is accused of attempting to shoplift more than $700 in products from a clothing store.

According to a police report, a Kohl’s employee stopped Melissa Collinsworth, 33, of Bob-O-Link Drive, outside a fitting room, where she is accused of concealing 25 products. Earlier, her daughter, Maria Harbison, 15, left the store with several items in her purse and was stopped in the parking lot, the report said.

Collinsworth is charged with theft and contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a child, and Harbison faces a theft offense, pending notification from Mahoning County Juvenile Court at Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.

Collinsworth was released on court summons and has a hearing Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court.
