FIVE Squared art show to open at Davis Family YMCA

The Davis Family YMCA is hosting its fifth annual FIVE Squared benefit art show and sale from Feb. 4- March 4 at the McClurg Road facility in Boardman.There will be an opening reception, which is free and open to the community, on Feb. 4 from 1-3 p.m.

More than 400 pieces of 5 inch x 5 inch art from around the world will be for sale for $25 each ($10 for children’s art). Proceeds from the sale fund the Y’s ARTreach program, which provides free art programing to under-served areas of the community. The art is varied, and artists range in age and ability, with some of the most recognized artists in the community participating alongside amateurs and children. All art is hung anonymously and only after purchase is the artist’s name revealed. Raffle tickets will be sold from 1-2 p.m. for place in line, with general sales beginning at 2:30 p.m.

In addition to the small art, a silent auction features larger original works by award winning local artists Diane Beatty, John Fire, Nancy Hawkins, Rebecca Hawkins, Jim O’Malley, Gloria Williams and Don Wright, as well as several limited edition prints.
