Man arrested in Austintown had already been deported in 2016

A Mexican citizen arrested in Austintown faces federal charges for re-entering the country following a deportation.

A federal indictment charges Jose Uribe Perez, 30, of Belmont Avenue with illegal re-entry.

Immigration officials deported Perez to his home country of Mexico on July 12, 2016, according to the indictment.

It says he again was found on Dec. 31, 2017, and he had not received consent to apply for readmission into the U.S.

Court records show the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped Perez on New Year’s Eve and charged him with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He pleaded guilty to the charge in Mahoning County Area Court on Jan. 10 and received a sentence of time served. It's unclear from the indictment if he is in ICE custody.
