No. 3 Tennessee 96 Tennessee Tech 53

KNOXVILLE, TENN.

Grant Williams scored 25 points and went 10 of 11 from the floor to lead a strong shooting performance for No. 3 Tennessee in a blowout of Tennessee Tech. Jordan Bone had 16 points and 10 assists with only one turnover for Tennessee. Admiral Schofield also scored 16 points. John Fulkerson had a career-high 15 points and shot 6 of 7 with four dunks. Jr. Clay scored 16 points to lead Tennessee Tech.

No. 2 Kansas 87, Eastern Michigan 63

LAWRENCE, KAN.

Udoka Azubuike scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his return from an ankle injury, and No. 2 Kansas cruised to a win over Eastern Michigan. Quentin Grimes was second on the team with 16 points, and Devon Dotson added 15. John Thompson IV led the way for the Eagles (6-7), finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Paul Jackson had 15 points as well.

No. 6 Nevada 86, Utah 71

SALT LAKE CITY

Caleb Martin scored a career-high 33 points, Jordan Caroline added 17, and No. 6 Nevada beat Utah. Sedrick Barefield recorded a season-best 33 points for the Utes (6-6), who couldn’t bounce back from Nevada’s big run early in the second half. Donnie Tillman had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Utah, which lost for the first time at home this season.

No. 8 Michigan State 88, Northern Illinois 60

EAST LANSING, MICH.

Cassius Winston matched a career-high with six 3-pointers and scored 24 points, leading No. 8 Michigan State to win over Northern Illinois. Michigan State’s Kenny Goins had 12 points, Nick Ward scored 11 points and reserve Xavier Tillman added eight points and matched a career high with 13 rebounds. Eugene German scored 20 points and Levi Bradley had 13 points for the Huskies.

No. 12 Auburn 95, North Florida 49

AUBURN, ALA.

Bryce Brown scored 18 points and made five 3-pointers, and No. 12 Auburn raced to a victory over North Florida. Austin Wiley had 13 points and seven rebounds for Auburn, which had five players score in double figures. Jared Harper didn’t quite join them but had nine points and 10 assists. Noah Horchler and Ezekiel Balogun both scored 10 points to lead North Florida.

No. 14 North Carolina 82, Davidson 60

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Cameron Johnson scored 17 points, Luke Maye had 11 points and 14 rebounds, and No. 14 North Carolina beat Davidson. Kenny Williams added 12 points and Garrison Brooks had 11 to help the Tar Heels (9-3). Freshman Nassir Little finished with 10 for UNC. The Tar Heels closed the first half with a 20-4 run keyed by eight points from Johnson. Jon Axel Gudmundsson had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Luke Frampton scored 15 points to lead Davidson (9-4).

Western Kentucky 83, No. 15 Wisconsin 76

BOWLING GREEN, KY.

Dalano Banton nearly had a triple-double and Western Kentucky rode the freshman to a win over No. 15 Wisconsin. Banton had eight points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, helping the Hilltoppers. Taveion Hollingsworth led Western Kentucky (7-6) with 22 points, and Charles Bassey had 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting while mostly guarded by preseason All-American Ethan Happ. Brad Davison led Wisconsin with 26 points, and Happ had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

No. 16 Kentucky 71, Louisville 58

LOUISVILLE, KY.

Tyler Herro had a career-high 24 points, Keldon Johnson added 15 and No. 16 Kentucky beat Louisville in this fierce Bluegrass rivalry. The Wildcats won their third in a row overall and 10th of 12 in the Bluegrass rivalry. Christen Cunningham had a season-high 20 points and Jordan Nwora 17 for Louisville.

Princeton 67, No. 17 Arizona St. 66

TEMPE, ARIZ.

Richmond Aririguzoh sank two free throws with 24.8 seconds remaining and Princeton held on to stun No. 17 Arizona State. Princeton beat a top 17 team for the first time since a victory over UCLA in the NCAA Tournament in 1996. Devin Cannady scored 21 to lead Princeton, including 5 of 12 3s. Jerome Desrosiers added a career-best 16 points and Aririguzoh and Sebastian Much scored 13 apiece. Romello White had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Sun Devils, who never led by more than four points.

No. 19 Mississippi St. 103, BYU 81

STARKVILLE, MISS.

Aric Holman scored a career-high 28 points and Quinndary Weatherspoon had 27, leading No. 19 Mississippi State past BYU for the Bulldogs’ ninth straight victory. Mississippi State also got 16 points from Tyson Carter and 11 each from Nick Weatherspoon and Reggie Perry. Yoeli Childs led the Cougars with 25 points and Zac Seljass and TJ Haws each had 14. With the score tied at 23, the Bulldogs reeled off 13 consecutive points, including six by Carter, to take control with 7:47 left in the half.

No. 21 Buffalo 87, Canisius 72

BUFFALO, N.Y.

CJ Massinburg scored 22 points and Nick Perkins added 18 to help No. 21 Buffalo close out its non-conference schedule with a victory over Canisius. Jeremy Harris added 17 points and nine rebounds, and Jayvon Graves contributed 10 points as Buffalo improved to 12-1 for the first time since the 1962-63 season. Takal Molson led Canisius (3-8) with 15 points. Malik Johnson and Isaiah Reese each had 13.

No. 22 Houston 80, NJIT 59

HOUSTON

Corey Davis Jr. scored 19 points, DeJon Jarreau had 13 and No. 22 Houston beat NJIT to remain undefeated. Brison Gresham had 11 points and seven rebounds and Armoni Brooks had 10 points for Houston. Houston has won 26 straight home games. Zach Cooks scored 20 points and Shyquan Gibbs and Diandre Wilson each added 10 for the Highlanders.

No. 24 Iowa 72, Bryant 67

IOWA CITY, IOWA

Tyler Cook scored 19 points with 12 rebounds and 24th-ranked Iowa held off lowly Bryant in its final tuneup before Big Ten play resumes next week. Jordan Bohannon had 17 points for the Hawkeyes. Bryant’s Anthony Grant missed an open look for game-tying 3 with 24 seconds left. Adam Grant had 20 of his 23 points in the opening 20 minutes for Bryant.

WOMEN

No. 6 Stanford 69, CSUN 43

STANFORD, CALIF.

Maya Dodson scored a career-high 16 points and blocked three shots to lift No. 6 Stanford over CSUN. Alanna Smith added 14 points for the Cardinal. Lacie Hull scored 10 points. DeJonai Carrington had 12 rebounds. Meghann Henderson scored seven points to lead the Matadors, who won two of their previous three games.

No. 11 Oregon State 92, CSU Bakersfield 52

CORALLIS, ORE.

Mikayla Pivec had a perfect day shooting, scoring a career-high 22 points with 10 rebounds, and No. 11 Oregon State knocked down 16 3-pointers to roll past Cal State Bakersfield. Pivec was 9 of 9 from the field with three 3-pointers and made her only free throw. Katie McWilliams and Kat Tudor added 15 points apiece for the Beavers. Alexxus Gilbert had 23 points and Malayasia McHenry 15 for the Roadrunners (4-8).

No. 13 Texas 104, Northwestern State 66

AUSTIN, TEXAS

Destiny Littleton scored 22 points, one of three Texas players to set career highs, and the No. 13 Longhorns warmed up for conference play with its highest scoring game of the season, a win over Northwestern State. Sug Sutton had 18 points and Olamide Aborowa 17, both career bests, for the Longhorns, who had five players score in double figures. Littleton went 11 for 11 from the foul line and had seven assists and six rebounds. RaVon Nero led the Lady Demons with 18 points.

No. 18 Kentucky 71, Sacred Heart 43

LEXINGTON, KY.

Maci Morris scored 17 points, freshman guard Rhyne Howard grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and No. 18 Kentucky coasted in its final turneup before conference play, beating Sacred Heart. Jaida Roper added 12 points and Taylor Murray 11 for the Wildcats. Erin Storck led the Pioneers with 19 points. Adrianne Hagood added 14 points and Katherine Haines had 12 rebounds.

Creighton 85, No. 19 DePaul 82

CHICAGO

Brooke Kissinger hit a career-best six 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 20 points and Creighton stunned No. 19 DePaul in a Big East Conference opener. Kissinger, who came into the game with just 19 points this season, helped the Bluejays end a nine-game losing streak against the Blue Demons. Audrey Faber added 19 points, making a 3-pointer with 39 seconds left that gave Creighton the lead for good. Olivia Elger chipped in with 14 points. Temi Carda also scored 14 points as the Bluejays. Chante Stonewell led DePaul with 17 points, while Ashton Millender scored 15.

No. 20 Gonzaga 78, Loyola Marymount 53

LOS ANGELES

Zykera Rice scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack and No. 20 Gonzaga dominated the second half to defeat Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference opener. Gonzaga was 12 of 19 shooting in the third quarter for a 29-10 scoring advantage and went 10 of 16 in the fourth for a 26-14 advantage. Gabby Green scored 16 points and Cierra Belvin 14 for the Lions.

No. 22 Marquette 85, Providence 46

MILWAUKEE

Natisha Hiedeman scored 25 points, Erika Davenport had a career-high 20 rebounds in her double-double and No. 22 Marquette cruised past Providence in the Big East opener. Allazia Blockton was held to six points but that was enough to become the all-time leading scorer at Marquette with 1,989 points, surpassing Jerel McNeal with 1,985 for the men. Jovana Nogic led Providence with 12 points.

No. 23 Texas A&M 84, UT Rio Grande Valley 61

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS

Ciera Johnson scored 17 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and No. 23 Texas A&M had its first undefeated December in 10 seasons, defeating UT Rio Grande Valley. Kayla Wells scored 21 points to lead the Aggies, who have won seven straight, and Jada Walton added a career-high 14. Jameka Dowell led the Vaqueros with 14 points.
