Woman survives after being shot in her face

PITTSBURGH

Authorities say a woman is expected to survive after being shot in the face in western Pennsylvania.

Allegheny County police said Monday that officers and emergency personnel responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting in Pitcairn, about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.

A 26-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the face was taken to a trauma hospital where authorities say she was listed in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

Detectives say it doesn’t appear an intruder was responsible and the injury “was most likely sustained during a domestic disturbance with another person in the residence.”

No arrests were announced.
