MOLDED WALDORF SALAD

1cup boiling water

1(3 ounce) package lemon Jello

1(11 ounce) can mandarin oranges

1(81/4 ounce) can pineapple chunks

1medium apple, diced

1medium banana, sliced

Seedless grapes

1/4cup chopped nuts (optional)

Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Stir in oranges, pineapple (with juice) and remaining ingredients. Refrigerate. This recipe doubled will fill a 9-inch by 13-inch pan.

PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH GRANDMA’S MOIST BREAD STUFFING

1cup butter or margarine

2cups diced celery

11/2cups chopped onions

1/4cup parsley

4cubes chicken bouillon

2teaspoons poultry seasoning

1/2teaspoon black pepper

16cups fresh bread cubes (1 small loaf)

3eggs, slightly beaten

Melt margarine or butter in large skillet. Cook onion, celery and bouillon 10 minutes. Add parsley, poultry seasoning and pepper. Pour bread cubes over top of skillet mixture. Pour eggs over the bread cubes and mix. Stuff the chicken, turkey or pork chops or bake 30 minutes alone and covered.

SWEDISH HEIRLOOM COOKIES

1cup shortening (at least half butter)

1cup confectioners’ sugar

1/2teaspoon salt

1 1/4cups ground, blanched almonds

2cups all-purpose flour

1tablespoon water

1tablespoon vanilla

Cream together shortening, sugar and salt. Add almonds. Blend in flour. Mix well. Add water and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Shape into crescent shapes with fingers using 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Flatten slightly on cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degree for 12 to 15 minutes. Watch so the cookies do not get too brown. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar while still warm.
