Kindergartners and first-graders at Poland Union Elementary School celebrated the holiday early with a pajama day.

Students spent the school day in their sleepwear, kicking it off with cookies and hot chocolate provided by the school.

“Students are having a great time, they love spending the day working on holiday crafts,” Masucci said.

First-grade teacher Kim Aikens said she mixed her regular school work with holiday themes.

Students created wreaths, and read holiday books during their work in centers.

“It’s a fun way to get them thinking about the holidays while still being productive,” Aikens said.

Kindergarten classrooms prepared to board the Polar Express, visiting the school’s train tent displayed in the gymnasium. Students also watched the holiday movie “Polar Express,” leaving the school day with their own Christmas bells.

Poland Union first-grade students also practiced for their holiday performance at Poland Seminary High School on Dec. 19.
