Two classes at Poland Union Elementary School worked together to create crafts for local nursing homes.

Second-grade teacher Phyllis Jeswald and preschool teacher Joy Bucci joined together to create 30 Santa Claus faces.

“The kids get together every other week to read and we thought there would be enough stuff to do a craft for the nursing homes,” Bucci said.

Students used paper plates, construction paper, glue and other crafting tools to create paper Santas to distribute.

Bucci said that the second-graders helped the preschoolers create their Santas and that each student completed one for the homes. The Santas were delivered to Austintown Health Care Center and Sunrise Nursing Home by Bucci and Karen Fitzpatrick, her teachers aide.

“These students from Poland Union get together to read and develop a friendship for learning,” Bucci said.
