Students at Hilltop Elementary School participated in a glove drive, during which they collected new men’s winter gloves to be donated to The Dorothy Day House in Youngstown.

The students brought the gloves to school the week of Nov. 12. Each classroom had its own collection bin for the gloves.

The Dorothy Day House provides an evening meal, coffee, a safe place to relax, access to a shower, the opportunity to plant and harvest a garden and much more to those in need.

“Last year we collected more than 200 pairs of gloves for The Dorothy Day House. We hope to beat that number this year. This service project is one way our students can give back to the community,” said Joe Maroni, Hilltop Elementary School principal.
