The Canfield Village Middle School student council sponsored a food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank during the last half of the month of November.

Non-perishable food items were collected in homerooms and the homeroom which collected the most items was awarded a pizza party from student council.

To encourage students to bring in some of the most needed items, they received double points for specified items, such as peanut butter or canned tuna or chicken.

“Our food drive is an annual event we hold around Thanksgiving. Second Harvest Food Bank comes to the school to pick the food up and will distribute it throughout the holiday season,” said Sara Dysert, CVMS student council advisor.

The school collected a grand total of 1,666 pounds of food for Second Harvest Food Bank.
