Boardman pushed the game out of reach in the third when it outscored the Tigers 19-4. Maria Torres led the Spartans with 24 points and Raegan Burkey added 15. Mackenzie Duplain led Massillon with 13 points.

STRUTHERS

Serena Sammarone scored 17 points and Grace Mangapora added 16 as Canfield earned a win in the JBL Tournament over Mohawk (Pa.). The Cardinals led 27-8 at halftime. Paige Julian scored 10 for Mohawk.

Aneziah Fryer scored a game-high 18 points for Niles. Madison Johnson scored 11 for the Red Dragons. Madison Casey was the only double-digit scorer for Hubbard (1-5, 0-3 Northeast 8), finishing with 11 points.

Emma Elia scored a game-high 25 points and Trinity McDowell added 15 as the Wildcats beat the Golden Bears. Ky’eria Collins led East with nine points.

Catara BeJarett scored 16 points and Rayonna Peterson had 10 for the Bombers (6-1), who put the game away late despite making only one field goal in the fourth quarter. Kenston made eight of its 14 foul shots in the fourth quarter. Alex Ochman led the Tigers (5-2) with 15 points. Kayla Clark grabbed 10 rebounds for Howland.

Bailey Drapola scored 13 points and made 11 rebounds for the Warriors. Becca Litz made 14 rebounds and six assists. For the Leopards, Nysa Gilchrist led with 14 points.

State-ranked Canfield rolls in its Holiday Duals event

CANFIELD

The Canfield High School wrestling team rolled to the team championship in its Holiday Duals tournament. Canfield defeated Kenston (48-24), St. Edward-Green (39-28), Weir, W.Va. (61-12) and Firelands (61-12) to reach the tournament finals against Erie (Pa.) Catherdral Prep, which is ranked No. 3 in Pennsylvania. The Cardinals beat the Ramblers 34-27 to win their own tournament title. Canfield is the No. 2-ranked Division II wrestling program in Ohio.

Boardman fares well in Christmas Invitational

Noah Basista places second in the 100 breaststroke and in the 100 butterfly in the CCS Christmas High School Invitational at Canton McKinley. He was the highest placed individual from the area. Boardman boys placed third in the 200 free relay placed and the 400 free relay.

Austintown Fitch’s Gia Direnzo placed 10th in the 100 butterfly out of 24 swimmers in the CCS Christmas High School Invitational at Canton McKinley. The Falcons’ swimmer finished with a 59.77. She also came in 11th in the 100 backstroke with a 1:00.91.
