Center to host gala

BCC Full Spectrum Community Outreach Center, the area’s only LGBTQIA center, will host its third annual Holiday Gala from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at DiVieste Banquet Center, 754 N. River Road. The event will include a buffet-style dinner, an open bar, live entertainment by the Cleveland-area cover band Pop Avenue, raffle baskets and door prizes. Individual tickets are $45 and tables of eight are $350 through today. This event is the organization’s biggest fundraiser annually. Holiday dinner, outreach planned

Our Community Kitchen, 551 Mahoning Ave., will host a spaghetti dinner and holiday outreach program to benefit the area’s homeless population from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The dinner, provided by Belleria Pizza, Hubbard, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The outreach will feature a Santa’s toy shop for parents and a giveaway of toiletries, hats, gloves, shoes, blankets, socks and more. New shoes and boots for all ages are especially needed donations.

Rebel Rescue to host fundraiser

Rebel Rescue Ohio will host its first fundraiser from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Paladin Brewery, 6520 Mahoning Ave. Admission is free. The event will include a basket auction, baked goods available for purchase, a merchandise table and more. Cocomo Joe’s food truck will be there serving Hawaiian specialties, donating all proceeds to the rescue. Library to host book discussion group

The Salem Public Library Book Discussion Group will meet in the Adult Reading Room, 821 E. State St., at 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss Agatha Christie’s murder mystery book, “The ABC Murders.” The discussion is open to the public and the book is available for borrowing through the library. Annual Christmas dinner planned

The Youngstown Community Food Center Inc. and Gleaners Food Bank will host its 30th annual Christmas dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 25 at St. Patrick Church hall, 1420 Oak Hill Ave. A complete traditional holiday meal will be provided to at least 250 people.

Additionally, toys will be given to children, gifts to the elderly and warm winter clothing and fruit baskets for all. All forms of donations, which are tax deductible, are being accepted.
