Two men have been indicted in the Oct. 29 break-in and shooting of a man on Edgehill Avenue Southeast.
DeWayne L. Jordan, 23, of Burton Street Southeast was indicted Tuesday on charges of aggravated burglary and felonious assault. Stephen J. Mazzola II, 22, of Rolling Meadows Drive in Howland, was indicted on aggravated burglary and kidnapping charges.
A police report said Mazzola entered the victim’s house at 10:50 p.m. A second man wearing a ski mask forced his way in behind Mazzola.
The victim, who said Mazzola was his friend, got into a scuffle with the masked man, now identified as Jordan, resulting in the victim, 46, being shot in the lower chest.
The victim was taken to the Trumbull Regional Medical Center. Mazzola was booked into the county jail a few hours later. Jordan was arrested on a warrant Nov. 3.
Each could get about 20 years in prison if convicted.
Also indicted Tuesday was Demonthani S. Scott, 43, of Karl Street in Warren Township. He is accused of taking a basket of items from the Family Dollar store, 2430 Youngstown Road, on Aug. 25.
Scott is accused of pushing an employee into the store’s sliding doors when she tried to stop him from leaving the store with the items.
The employee suffered a cut elbow and said her head hurt. If convicted, Scott could get eight years in prison.
Scott also was charged by police with having a gun, robbing a woman of her cane and breaking her car windshield Thanksgiving Day after she gave him a ride downtown.
