Wilmington fell to Southern Columbia in the PIAA 2A state final for the second year in a row.
The two sides were tied 14-14 at halftime, but the Greyhounds managed just 15 yards of offense in the third quarter as the Tigers pulled away. Southern Colombia’s Gavin Garcia rushed for 134 yards, caught to passes for 69 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Ethan Susen rushed for a touchdown and Robert Pontius found Cameron Marett in the end zone in defeat. Wilmington finished the season 13-2 under first-year coach Brandon Phillian. It’s other loss was to Farrell, who won the 1A state championship on Thursday.

East Liverpool’s scoring was all done by five players. Tre Jackson led the fivesome with 19 points, Gabe Roach had 12 points and Timmy Neal had 10 points to round out the double figure scoring. Nick Woodyard added nine points and Brennan O’Hara had three points. Luke Chebock led Beaver Local with 12 points. Josh Hilditch, Jaden Kidday and Grant Hall each scored 10 points in defeat.
