Jackie Evancho in holiday concert
NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
Jackie Evancho will give a Christmas concert at Orr Auditorium at Westminster College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The youngest artist to give a solo concert at New York’s Lincoln Center and the youngest solo platinum artist, Evancho will perform classic and popular holiday songs at the concert.

As a 10-year-old, Evancho dazzled viewers when she appeared on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Now 18, she has earned global recognition and has released a string of platinum and gold albums.
Evancho has performed for Pope Francis I and President Barack Obama.
Lecture on unusual tree ornaments
YOUNGSTOWN
George Johnson will give a lecture titled “Why in the World is THAT on the Christmas Tree?” at noon Saturday in the Carriage House, behind the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.
Johnson will discuss unusual decorations and the legends that caused them to be incorporated as Christmas decorations.
