Market Street Elementary School hosted an assembly Nov. 9 to honor Veterans.

Students, teachers and Veterans gathered in the schools gymnasium for the assembly.

During the event, students gave speeches about Veterans that are their heroes.

One student, Joseph Burton, spoke about his father who served.

“My dad is my biggest hero,” Burton said. “He is the bravest person I know.”

After presentations, the Veterans were offered a free lunch with cookies, food and drinks.

Attendees also got their pictures taken in front of a banner of American flags made by students with Veterans names on them.

Veterans in attendance also received a personalized certificate to thank them for their service.
