The Kindness Club at Poland Middle School worked to create Thanksgiving cards for community members.
According to Mary Jo Rowan, a school counselor and coordinator of Kindness Club, students created 325 cards for Senior Services, a company who delivers meals to local seniors.
“They say it’s their favorite part of the meal,” Rowan said.
Kristi Martin, a math teacher and Kindness Club advisor, said that this is the second year the club has partnered with the company to create the cards.
“Last year was so successful and they liked the cards so much that they asked us to do it again,” Martin said.
Along with Thanksgiving cards, Kindness Club members also wrote thankfulness letters to each teacher at Poland Middle School.
“It’s just a show of being thankful for the staff and all the hard work their do,” Martin said.
Each student was tasked with writing at least one personal thank you letter and 10 Thanksgiving cards.
“It’s great. Students really enjoy making them and its a good way to express the point of the holiday which is being thankful,” Rowan said.
There are 105 current members of the Kindness Club, according to Martin.
The group meets after school to create projects to spread positivity and kindness throughout Poland.
“These students, they want to be leaders. It adds an extra incentive for them to be kind because they have to set the example as members of Kindness Club,” Martin said.
