CRAFT SHOWS

Austintown Fitch Choir Boosters will host a Santa’s Workshop Craft Show in the Fitch High School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 16. The show will offer crafts, consultants, a 50-50 raffle and a basket auction. The fundraiser will benefit the choir boosters, who are raising money for a trip to the Navy Base in Norfolk, Va.

FUNDRAISERS

Big Brothers Big Sisters will host a “Jingle Bell Calendar Raffle” fundraiser during December. All participants who donate $10 will be eligible to win $50 per day in December based on the 3-digit Pennsylvania evening drawing. The prize is $500 on Dec. 31. Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothing for the entire family. With each $20 purchase throughout December, shoppers get a free holiday sweater/blouse or wedding, holiday/prom dress or a men’s suit or sport coat.

Salem Historical Society is using the theme “Made in Salem” for the annual Salem community calendar. This edition of the calendar features all photographs in full color. Austintown Farmers Market will host a Winter Market and community event at 5 p.m. Dec. 14. The market will offer a shopping experience for those seeking Christmas gifts as well as activities for all. Horse-drawn wagon rides will begin at 6 p.m. as Santa arrives. Free photos with Santa will be offered starting shortly after his arrival, and his workshop will be available for free kids’ crafts as well as a gift wrapping station. There will be a s’mores station, hot chocolate bar, 50-50 and basket raffle and door prizes. The sponsor for this event is Greenwood Chevrolet, providing the free wagon rides and gift wrapping station. The Associated School Employees Credit Union is providing the free photos with Santa. Other sponsors include attorney Robert Price, Mary Kay by Dianne Bitner, Cyclone TNT, Mr. Fix It and Captured Grace Photography. Choffin Career & Technical Center early childhood education program will host its 38th annual mitten tree campaign today through Dec. 14. Donations of children’s gloves, mittens, hats, socks and school supplies are needed and may be dropped off at Choffin, 200 Wood St., Youngstown. Items collected will benefit the Choffin Preschool Center and Mahoning County Children’s Services.

Stambaugh Campmasters will host Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road, Canfield. Participants will enjoy a pancake breakfast with Santa and gifts. Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will host a Christmas party from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14. The event will feature live entertainment with Steve Fezzini, lunch, door prizes, raffles and more. Cost is $5 for members and $8 for guests. Reservations are due by Friday. Westminster College will host “Cartographies and Narratives: Work by Murray Robertson” in the campus’ Foster Art Gallery in Patterson Hall through Friday. Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice Senior Center is sponsoring a bus trip to The Wheeling Island Casino and Oglebay Festival of Lights. The bus will leave the center at 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12 for Youngstown Skate to meet the rest of the group. Participants are asked to use the side parking lot only. While en route, participants will play bingo and have raffle drawings. Upon arrival at Wheeling Downs, each person will receive $25 in free slot play. The bus will leave the casino at 4 p.m. for the Oglebay Festival of Lights. Snack bags will be provided by First Light Home Care. Cost is $30 for senior center members and $35 for guests. Howland UMC and The First Congregational Church of Wayne will sponsor a one-day bus trip to Oglebay Festival of Lights with Cabelas on Dec. 11. Cost is $39 per person. The trip includes a laser show and stop and shop at Cabelas along with a dinner stop on your own. Departure is set for 12:30 p.m. from The First Congregational Church of Wayne; pickup at Howland UMC at 1 p.m. with a return at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
