‘Carol’ at Crown Theater

‘White Christmas’ on the big screen again

The classic movie “White Christmas” will return to theaters nationwide, including Tinseltown, on Dec. 9 and 12, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. both days.

The 1954 film directed was directed by Michael Curtiz and stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen. The film features the songs of Irving Berlin, including a new version of the title song, “White Christmas”, introduced by Crosby in the film Holiday Inn. Friendly Squares dinner-dance set

The Friendly Squares annual Christmas Dinner Dance will take place Dec. 8 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St.

The festivities will begin with a Christmas dinner for Friendly Squares members from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Square dancing, which is open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Gene Hammond and Neil Harner will be the callers and Frankie Hammond will be cueing the line dances.

This will be a High/Low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual. There is a $6 donation per person at the door.
