YSU Wind Ensemble plans outdoor concert

The Dana School of Music’s YSU Wind Ensemble will give a free outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harrison Common Field on Walnut Street, across from the MVR restaurant.
The concert will be led by Prof. Stephen L. Gage and graduate assistant Ryan Dutton. The rain location is Ford Theater in Bliss Hall.
The pops concert will include “Fanfare on Star Spangled Banner,” “Star Spangled Banner,” “Porgy and Bess Medley,” Variations on Scarborough Fair, “Shenandoah Setting, “The Incredibles” and “Danzas Cubanas.”
“Harrison Common is an outstanding venue for this music, and the YSU Wind Ensemble is enthusiastically looking forward to performing a pops concert under the open sky in our first concert of the semester,” said Gage.
Guests can bring a lawn chair and snacks. No alcohol is permitted at this concert.
Parking is available in the M30 Wick Avenue parking deck or M32 surface lot via Walnut Street (GPS address is 100 Wade Street, Youngstown OH 44502) for a nominal fee.
This school year, the Dana School of Music will celebrate 150 years as one of the region’s finest cultural institutions.
William Henry Dana’s musical institute has produced generations of professional musicians who perform in prestigious orchestras, military and jazz bands, and contemporary ensembles; teach in elite conservatories; and develop future musicians in primary and secondary schools throughout the country.
