Hike With a Naturalist
When: Saturday, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
What: Enjoy an early morning hike with a naturalist that takes you above the Lily Pond along the One Way Drive Trail continuing on the Old Tree Trail and back. Look for transitions as summer fades to autumn.
Where: Lily Pond at the end of McCollum Road, Youngstown.
Cost: Free
Details: Moderate difficulty with hills, 2 miles.

Children’s Nature Hour - Busy Beavers
When: Next Thursday, 10-11 a.m.
What: What has a large flat tail, webbed feet, chops down trees and is really busy this time of year? Beavers, of course. Join us as we learn about our largest and busiest rodent.
Where: Slippery Rock Pavilion, Robinson Hill Drive near Lake Glacier, Youngstown.
Cost: $4 for Mahoning County residents, $6 NR.

Midweek Relax Hike
When: Wednesday, 5:30-7 p.m.
What: Stroll along the trails of Yellow Creek Park with naturalist Cody Stoll to unwind while being surrounded in nature. Be ready to pass through the creek, water level permitting.
Where: Yellow Creek Park, 17 Lowellville Road, Struthers.
Cost: Free
Details: Moderate difficulty, 2.5 miles.

Farm Hands
When: Next Thursday, 4-6 p.m.
What: It takes some work to care for the animals daily. Come experience first-hand chore time at the farm.
Where: MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield

Paddlin’ for Woodpeckers
When: Sept. 8, 9-11 a.m.
What: Join naturalist Cody Stoll on a morning kayak ride on Lake Newport with high hopes of seeing our resident woodpeckers and some migratory birds. Breathe in the fresh, warm air and enjoy a morning on the lake.
Where: East Newport Boat Launch, East Newport Drive, Youngstown.
Cost: $12 for Mahoning County residents, $15 NR; 1/2 price for second person in tandem.
