The Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ inability to keep the Williamsport Crosscutters off the bases gives the Auburn Doubledays hope of winning the Pinckney Division.

Williamsport blasted the Scrappers, 11-0, in Sunday’s New York-Penn League game. The Scrappers’ lead on the Doubledays is 11/2 games with a week to go.

The Crosscutters pounded out 11 hits. Scrappers reliever Luis Araujo struggled with his command, hitting four Crosscutters in the two innings he pitched.

The Crosscutters scored three runs in the fifth inning and six in the seventh.

Matt Kroon’s three hits included a homer and drove in four runs.
