Church to host ‘Homecoming Celebration’

Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., is inviting all former and current church members to join in celebrating its Family and Friends Day “Homecoming Celebration” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The host pastor is Elder James C. Bowie.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Michael D. Small, former pastor of the church who served there for almost 20 years. He is currently the pastor of Mount Haven Baptist Church in Cleveland.

The Rev. Mr. Small attended American Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville, Tenn., and earned a master’s degree in Christian Ministries.

Pastor Small is a member of Phi Beta Sigma; the NAACP; the national Baptist Convention, USA Inc.; the Baptist Ministers Conference; and more.

Donations will be accepted, and proceeds will benefit the Rev. B.J. Myers Scholarship Fund, which was founded by Pastor Small. For information, call 330-743-5084.
