Green Youngstown Receives $20,000 Grant from Lowe’s and Keep America Beautiful

YOUNGSTOWN

Green Youngstown today announced that Lowe’s has awarded a $20,000 Community Partners grant to beautify and improve the Lincoln Park walking path on Youngstown’s East Side. Green Youngstown is one of 44 organizations across the country to receive grant funding through the 2018 Community Partners Grant Program.

The Lowe’s Community Partner’s Grant will provide funding for new fencing, lighting, park benches, trash receptacles, entrance gates, and other improvements to enhance the usability and security of the walking path. Green Youngstown is partnering with the City of Youngstown Parks Department, St. Angela Merici Parish and the neighborhood community watch organization to organize 2 community work days to accomplish these goals.

“The City of Youngstown has had a strong working relationship with St. Angela Merici Parish and the residents and community watch members in that area. After many community cleanups and improvements over the last few years, we are finally able to make the walking path into what the community envisioned and has been working so hard towards”, said Jennifer Jones, Green Youngstown program coordinator.

The first community work day is scheduled for this Saturday, from 8am- 3pm. Lunch will be provided. All volunteers are welcome.

The second community work day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be scheduled following the 2nd community work day, on a date to be determined.
