Club to celebrate centennial

Baby Boutique will take place Sept. 22

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park will host its Semi-Annual Baby Bargain Boutique from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22. Admission is free with a non-perishable food item donation for a local food bank.

For those who have items to sell, reservations for table rentals will take place Wednesday for Boardman residents and opening up to all nonresidents Thursday. Table reservations can be made at the park office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by calling 330-726-8105, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Indoor and outdoor spots available for Boardman residents, $30 for a pavilion table or $25 for outside table; and nonresidents, $35 for pavilion table or $30 for outside table. The event will take place rain or shine. Outside spots must take their own table or rent one from the park at $7 each and may use a pop-up tent. Local student is elected to office

POLAND

A Poland Seminary High School student, Jacob Snyder, was nominated to the office of chief justice of the Supreme Court for Buckeye Boys State which took place this summer at Miami University.

American legion Buckeye Boys State is a seven-day program focused on the workings of city, county and state government, civic engagement and leadership development usually conducted by the American Legion Department of Ohio at Miami University. Jacob was captain of the golf team, treasurer for student council, and youth leader at Poland Presbyterian Church. He was sponsored to attend the American Legion Buckeye Boys State Program by American Legion Post 737.

Roundtable will meet Thursday

The Dorothy Day House, 620 Belmont Ave., will host its roundtable discussion at 7 p.m. Thursday. The presenter will be Sister Anne Victory, education director of the Cleveland Collaborative to End Human Trafficking.

Organization needs volunteers

Bunnies in Baskets, an F5RS 501(c)(3) no-kill rescue and sanctuary, needs volunteers from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 to make items to sell to raise funds for the organization. Supplies will be provided.

Butler seeks docents

YOUNGSTOWN

The Butler Institute of American Art is offering classes for new docents.

Docents are trained museum volunteers who offer teaching, understanding and appreciation of art through guided tours of the permanent collection.

No previous museum experience is necessary, but a willingness to participate and commitment to study the museum collection are.

Classes will begin in mid-September and run through mid-April.
