Members of the 2018 Canfield High School boys and girls soccer teams were officially introduced to family and friends during the teams’ Meet the Team event on Aug. 10.

Girls Head Coach Phil Simone introduced the girls varsity team and Boys Head Coach Christian Silvestri introduced the boys varsity team, while Boys Assistant Coach and Junior Varsity Coach Joe Fusillo introduced the boys junior varsity team and Girls Assistant Coach and Junior Varsity Coach Sophia Mancini introduced the girls junior varsity team. Nico DiIanni serves as boys team assistant coach and John Madeline serves as girls team assistant coach.

Simone welcomed everyone to the event and introduced Canfield Soccer Boosters President Tracey Stein, who introduced the Canfield Soccer Boosters officers.

Stein turned to program back over to Simone, who introduced Mancini who then proceeded to recognize the girls junior varsity team.

“Our girls JV team has had a tremendous pre-season and we are excited to watch them grow. The future is bright for Canfield Soccer,” Simone said.

Simone then introduced Fusillo, who introduced the boys junior varsity team.

“Congratulations on your pre-season and best of luck on your season,” Simone said.

Simone then had his turn at the podium to introduce the girls varsity team.

“We’ve had a great pre-season and we have high expectations for the season. The girls are fun to work with and a joy to be around. They have phenomenal character and personalities. Our girls team have a streak going in that we have not lost to a local opponent since September, 2012. It’s not easy for the girls with this added pressure. The local team bring their best because they want to knock off Canfield. But with the work ethic our girls have, I really feel they will be fine this year,” Simone said.

Simone then turned the podium over to Silvestri to introduce the boys varsity team.

“We wish the boys team a great and successful season,” Simone said.

The Canfield High School Soccer Boosters hosted the evening for the teams and their families and friends in the high school cafeteria.
