Trumbull Mobile Meals needs volunteers

Trumbull Mobile Meals is a community-based service agency dedicated to providing a home-delivered meal service to Trumbull County residents who are homebound. Due to a large increase in senior hunger in the community, volunteers are desperately needed to deliver meals in Niles, Cortland, Howland, Warren, Vienna, Girard, Liberty and McDonald areas.

All are welcome to share an hour once a week or just once a month. For information, call Terri at 330-394-2538.

Contest to take place during street fair

The American Legion Street Fair will take place Sept. 6 through 8, and all entries for the Columbiana Street Fair Amateur Photography Contest are to be submitted from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 through Sept. 4. at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St.

Categories are: Adults age 15 and older: open, animal, people, I love this town, and landscape; and children age 14 and younger: open. The entry fee is $5 per photo and winning photos will be on display for public viewing in the library through Sept. 22 and must be picked up from the library by Sept. 28.

School to celebrate 50th anniversary

The South Range Local School District will celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2018-19 school year. To start the celebration, each home football game will honor a decade of graduates. Library to host video conference Aug. 23

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., in the Quaker Room, will host a video conference program at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23 in the Quaker room. The conference will be, “Who’s Who in the Zoo,” presented by the Greenville Zoo, Greenville, S.C.

Library to host computer class

‘Miracle Maker’ change bandits needed

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is seeking “Miracle Maker” change bandits to assist with pre-event fundraising activities for the 10th annual Miracles & Promises Radiothon to benefit the hospital. The Radiothon will take place Sept. 27 and 28 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day, and will be broadcast live on Mix 98.9 and 570 WKBN from the hospital’s Beeghly campus in Boardman.

Individuals, families, businesses, schools and civic and community organizations may participate in this program and help raise funds for kids at Akron Children’s. Change bandits can create their own fundraising activities in addition to spare change from co-workers, friends and family. A kit containing a fundraising guide and materials necessary to conduct a change bandit campaign is delivered to all participants, and all donations and change bandits will be recognized during the Radiothon.

Veterans’ Outreach seeks volunteers

Veterans’ Outreach has several events planned for this summer. Reading program receives grant

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley recently received a $4,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to support the hospital’s Reach Out and Read program. Ben Stein to present Skeggs Lecture

Writer, lawyer, actor and political and economic commentator Ben Stein will present a lecture at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 5th Ave. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of the YSU Skeggs Lecture Series.

West Side Cats needs volunteers
