May is around the corner, it can’t stay chilly forever, and the road is calling. Here are five in-state road trips to take next month, courtesy of the Ohio tourism department.

v Memphis Belle Exhibit Opening, May 17-19 (Dayton): Exactly 75 years after completing its final World War II mission, the restored B-17F Memphis Belle will be unveiled at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

v Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden Opening, May 19 (Columbus): Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens celebrates the grand opening of their Children’s Garden this spring.

v Feast of the Flowering Moon, May 24-27 (Chillicothe): The 35th anniversary of this historic festival celebrates the rich Native American heritage of Chillicothe, Ohio’s first capital city.

v Biggest Week in American Birding, May 4-13 (Oregon): The 10-day birding event features workshops, guided birding activities, half-day birding tours, keynote speakers, vendors, evening socials, a bird tattoo contest, songbird banding demonstrations and more. The festival headquarters is at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge.

v Nelsonville Music Festival, May 31 - June 3 (Nelsonville): Four days of rock ’n’ roll from more than 60 musical acts, including The Decemberists, Ani Difranco and George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic.

“The Simpsons” (8 p.m., Fox): Grampa makes a confession to Homer while on his deathbed. After his recovery, he comes to realize that this issue will not be easy to reconcile. Tonight’s episode is the series’ 636th, which moves it ahead of “Gunsmoke” as the longest-running primetime scripted show in TV history.

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” (9 p.m., CNN): the celebrity chef is in West Virginia in the season premiere.

Sacred music choir schedules concerts

SALEM

Illuminare, an ensemble of collegiate and local music professionals who are committed to performing sacred choral music by compositional masters, has scheduled a series of performances that it has titled “Where Saints and Sinners Have Trod: A Millennium of Sacred Choral Music.”

The ensemble is directed by Jon Simsic, organist and choirmaster at St. Joseph’s in Canton as well as chorus master and music director of the young artists program for Opera Western Reserve.

“Where Saints and Sinners Have Trod” features works by Monteverdi, Handl (Gallus), Marenzio, Pearsall, Goss, Stanford, Paulus and others. Here is the schedule:

Saturday: Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, 7:30 p.m.

May 6: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel Ave., Youngstown, 7 p.m.

May 11: First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Fifth St., East Liverpool, 7:30 p.m.

May 12: St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St., Akron; 7:30 p.m.
