Girl Scout volunteers honored at annual event

Girl Scouts of North East Ohio recently recognized 87 of its 11,000 adult members at an award ceremony at the Holiday Inn Cleveland-South in Independence.

Each spring, GSNEO honors adults who were nominated by their peers with a special recognition ceremony. During the event, volunteers receive honors from Girl Scouts of the USA and the local council for individual years of service and ongoing commitment to building girls of courage, confidence and character.

A total of 46 volunteers received Appreciation Pins; six received Honor Pins; one received the Thanks Badge; two received the Thanks Badge II; 11 received the President’s Award; and one received the Forever Green Award.

The following volunteers received Appreciation Pins: Veronica Becker, North Bloomfield; Heather Beckner, Ravenna; Aimee Bonar, Vienna; Laura Casey, Warren; Bethany Delgarbino, Warren; Niki Dispenza, North Lima; Holly Haddle, Vienna; Lisa Morris, Vienna; Pamela Rider, Lake Milton; Holly Sala, Vienna; and Carolyn Zangara, Warren. A President’s Award was presented to Service Unit 805, Southington.

The Appreciation Pin recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience; the Honor Pin recognizes an individual’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and has had a measurable impact on two or more geographic areas of service, allowing the council to reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals; the Thanks Badge honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement; Thanks Badge II honors previous Thanks Badge recipients who continue to provide exemplary service in a leadership role, resulting in a measureable impact that benefits the total council or entire Girl Scout Movement; the President’s Award recognizes any registered adult Girl Scout for outstanding service to a council-wide position and dedication that impacts the success of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for GSNEO; and the Forever Green Award honors previous recipients of the Appreciation Pin, Honor Pin, Thanks Badge and Thanks Badge II who have continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role, resulting in a measurable impact that benefits the entire Girl Scout Movement.

Girl Scouts welcomes adults 18 years of age and older, female and male, who are willing to volunteer their time to help mentor girls through the program.
