Film co-directed by students from Valley will get premiere

“Fly By Night,” a film made by Kent State University students Jimmy Naples and Nate Shively, will premiere Saturday at 8 p.m. at Cartwright Hall, on the university’s main campus. Admission is $20 at the door.

The film is a neo-noir crime drama that was shot between May and July of last year throughout Northeast Ohio. Naples and Shively, both Youngstown natives, co-directed it

“Some of our biggest scenes were shot in the Youngstown area,” said Shively. “We filmed in the Mahoning County Jail. We also filmed a few of our main locations in Canfield and Liberty.”

Other scenes were shot in Hudson, Kent, Vermillion, Geneva, Ravenna and Akron.

Saturday’s premiere will include a red carpet, photo booth, cash bar, food, merchandise stands and free parking.

Kent State University produces a student-led, full length feature film every two years, with a distribution deal. “Fly By Night” will be available at all Family Video stores nationwide.
