BASEBALL

Austintown Fitch 11, Howland 1

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Fitch’s Nick Bianco went 2 for 3 with six RBIs, including a grand slam in the third inning. Kole Klasic, Nick Belcik and Kenny Misik also drove in one run each for Fitch (14-5). Falcons pitcher Tommy Pitko allowed one unearned run in five innings. He struck out seven and allowed four hits and four walks. Belcik, Klasic, and Jeremiah Papa each had two hits. Howland starting pitcher Jackson Deemer allowed seven runs — six earned — five hits, six walks and struck out one. Dylan Keller had two of the Tigers four hits. Hayden Parker and Frankie Manios combined for the remaining Howland hits.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Orange 15, Poland 9

POLAND

Ally Andrews led the Bulldogs with three goals. Marisa Ricciardi and Galena Lopuchovsky scored twice. Sydney Phillips and Olivia Barrett each scored won for Poland. Poland goalie Carly Boccia had 16 saves. Catherine Sicafuse, Andrews and Barrett were each credited with five ground balls.

SOFTBALL

Mathews 4, Grand Valley 1

VIENNA

Winning pitcher Addy Jarvis came within one strike of a perfect game. Dani Shreve homered with two outs in the top of the seventh inning for Grand Valley (8-7). Jarvis struck out 17 and walked none. Mackenzie Graham’s two hits included a double for the Mustangs (11-4, 8-0 Northeast Athletic Conference). Bella Spano had two singles and scored a run while Alivia Oulton doubled.

Minerva 4, Salem 2

SALEM

Minerva’s Liv Kamph hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth for the game winner. Kiaunna Brown added two hits. Hayden Carner doubled off the fence for the Quakers and Jessica Slocum’s RBI single tied the game 2-2 in top of the sixth. Bailee Thorn, Sydney Kline and Elly Exline also singled. Taylor Thorpe struck out nine in six innings for Salem.
