MVYP will partner with Special Olympics

Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will partner with the Special Olympics for the 9th annual Trumbull County Special Olympics, with Jim Tressel as the special guest, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12. The event will take place at Girard High School, Arrowhead Stadium, 200 Highland Ave.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or attend must respond to Bob Gratz at bgratz@amerifirst.com or at 330-507-0436 by Friday to receive a T-shirt for the event. All are welcome.

Association to host student recital

The Youngstown Music Teachers Association will host a student recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Butler North Church, 524 Wick Ave. YMTA’s recitals showcase multiple students from age 5 through 18 and are open to all instruments.

Library will host YSU professor Monday

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host a program, “Organized Crime in Youngstown,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Quaker meeting room.

The speaker will be Fred W. Viehe, Ph.D., of Youngstown State University. Dr. Viehe is a professor of American Urban History at YSU and a visiting professor at Chandigarh University, Chandigarh, India.
