Youngstown man sough in chase now in custody

YOUNGSTOWN — A Vestal Road man wanted by Mill Creek MetroParks Police for an April 14 chase is now in custody.

Daniel Boerio, 37, is expected to be arraigned Wednesady in municipal court on a third degree felony charge of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. Park police managed to take him into custody Monday and he was booked into the Mahoning County jail.

Reports said Boerio was pulled over about 4:20 p.m. April 14 on Old Furnace Road for an improper turn. An officer took his information and walked back to his cruiser and when he did the car drove away.

The officer chased the car through the park, which was crowded with people, at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, before a supervisor called the chase off, reports said. Officers later found the car abandoned that day at Mahoning Avenue and Meridan Road.

They were able to track Boerio down through the car’s vehicle registration number, reports said.
