Ryan Stafanec drove in three runs for the Cardinals. Johnnie Mikos, Brennen Olesh and JT Ogden had an RBI each. Mikos allowed seven hits, four earned, in four innings pitched.

Boardman pitcher Alex Cardona had seven strikeouts and one walk in five innings. Mike Melewski went 3 for 3, including a double, with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Spartans (10-7, 5-1 All-American Conference Red Tier). Chad Laczko had two hits and two runs scored while Jared Laczko drove in two runs. Robert Tomko was the winning pitcher, scattering six hits.

HUBBARD

Niles’ Joe Gallo went 2 for 4, including a home run, with three RBIs and a run scored. Shannon Slovesko finished 1 for 2 with two RBIs for the Eagles.

GIRARD

Tyler O’Dell scattered five hits and struck out four in the Indians’ victory. Austin Claussell tripled and drove in a run and O’Dell and Austin DeGregory also drove in runs for Girard. Damian Airwyke had two hits for LaBrae.

MINERAL RIDGE

Dakota Edwards and Garrett Mihalick had two hits for the Rams. Koby Zupko got the win and the save. Ryan Demsky had a double for the Blue Devils.

Andrew Russell tossed a no-hitter, striking out 13 and walking one. Nolan Yantz had three hits and Russell two. Both drove in two runs.

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Jake Gehring tossed a four-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one. Gehring had three hits for the Raiders (8-8), Josh Stear’s two hits included a triple. Jaxon Anderson doubled. For the Rebels, Jeff Feo had two hits and Tanner Daub doubled. Tyler Hurd scattered nine hits.

Canton Central Catholic 7, West Branch 5

BELOIT

West Branch’s David Cunningham got the loss. Cunningham allowed four runs on four hits and a walk in two innings. Jake Lyons, Cunningham and TJ DeShields each drove in a run for the Warriors (12-2).

Springfield 12, Jackson-Milton 1

NORTH JACKSON

The Tigers scored five in the top of the fifth. Chris Thompson got the win for the Tigers (10-2, 8-0 Mahoning VAlley Athletic Conference). Thompson struck out five and allowed a hit and two walks in four innings of work. Jackson-Milton’s Seth Pifer struck out one and walked one in three innings. Springfield’s Brannon Brungard and Brandon Walters had three hits each. Sebastian Lay had a hit and a walk for the Blue Jays (7-6, 6-2).

Lowellville 11, McDonald 1

STRUTHERS

Matt Hvisdak, Nate Solak, Vinnie Kacir, Jason Higgins and Dylan Durkin each drove in runs during the Rockets’ six-run sixth inning. Hvisdak also tripled and score in the first inning. Higgins allowed one hit and one run over six innings, striking out six. Steven Mangin singled for McDonald.

Toronto 13, Columbiana 3

TORONTO

Columbiana (4-10) got on the board first with three runs in the top of the first aided by four walks scoring the first run. Evan Kenneally knocked in two with a two out single to finish off the frame. The Clippers were held in check the rest of the way by Nolan Clegg who struck out 10 on the day. AJ Perkins had a double in the sixth for the Clippers second hit of the day.

Lisbon 17, Leetonia 6

LISBON

Mason Rance drove in four runs with his two hits. Josh Entrikin contributed two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored. Cameron Summers drove in three runs.Garrett Cox was the winning pitcher, striking out six.

Mathews 8, Maplewood

MECCA

Chris Ritz had two hits and a double to lead the Mustangs (10-3) and Jackson Iceman pitched a complete game and doubled. Ritz and Gabe Canter had two RBIs each. Hunter Bates allowed four walks and struck out one for Maplewood (6-4).

Newbury 8, Southington 3

NEWBURY

Noah Arnold went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs in the Black Knights’ victory. Curtis Borsi singled, walked three times and scored four runs for Newbury (5-2, 2-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Matt Fink scattered seven hits and struck out seven.

Cardinal Mooney 13, St. Joseph’s Academy 2

BOARDMAN

Conchetta Rinaldi, Gia DiFabio and Caitie Perry homered for the Cardinals (10-1). Rinaldi drove in four runs and doubled while Perry had three RBIs. Kayla Rutherford pitched a five-inning one-hitter, striking out 11. For St. Joseph Academy (10-4), Andrea Horrocks homered.

Brookfield 18, East 1

YOUNGSTOWN

Gabby Schiska tossed a two-hitter for the Warriors, striking out six and walking one in the five-inning game. Sheridan Rotunno, Bailey Drapola, Lexi Hammond and Julie First each had three hits. One of Drapola’s was a homer. Schiska, Cara Nehlen, Chloe Willrich and Autumn Sirochman doubled. Willrich and Rotunno drove in five runs and Drapola four.

Canfield 10, Warren Harding 0

WARREN

Canfield pitcher KaiLi Gross threw a complete game — giving up four hits, with nine strikeouts and no walks. Gross went 4 for 4 with a grand slam and a double to go along with six RBIs. Chloe Cruz had two doubles and two singles with an RBI. Kalin Kovach had a solo home run and a single. Kovach finished with two RBIs. Payton Schuller had a single.

Austintown Fitch 3, Howland 1

AUSTINTOWN

Lydia Spalding pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 and aided her own cause with two singles and two RBIs for the Falcons (5-5, 3-2 AAC Red Tier). LeeAnna Franken singled twice and drove in a run and Ashley Fuller singled twice for Fitch. Gabby Hartzell produced the only Howland run with a home run.

YOUNGSTOWN

Sophie Howell pitched a perfect game in Game 1. Howell struck out 14 of 15 batters. Emma Gumont hit a home run and drove in two RBIs. Cassidy Shaffer also hit a home run and drove in three. Allison Smith struck out 11 in a one-hitter in Game 2. Allison Smith hit a home run and drove in five RBIs on the day.

South Range 10, Crestview 0

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Bree Kohler struck out eight in four hitless innings and Madison Weaver pitched a scoreless fifth to complete a no-hitter for the Raiders (12-4). Kohler and Hanna Dennison homered for South Range. Kohler also singled and had two RBIs. Hope Thomas singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Drew Feren and Marlaina Slabach each singled twice.

NORTH JACKSON

Jacqueline Kish hit two doubles and drove in three runs for the Tigers. She tossed a five-inning three-hitter, striking out seven and walking one. Marlie Applegarth Molly Pontius and K. Yemma doubled. Applegarth and Pontius each had three hits. For the Bluejays, Abby Spalding, Brooklyn Gallant and Korie Gross singled.

Lowellville 3-0, McDonald 1-1

LOWELLVILLE

Winning pitcher Isabella Sotlar struck out eight and walked one. Sabrina Torrez hit a two-run double. Sotlar, Olivia Sotlar and Marissa Lellio also had hits for the Rockets. Megan Ward’s three hits included a triple. Rachel Ward’s two hits included a double. Sierra Schrader doubled. In the second game, Rachel Ward tossed a five-hitter. She struck out four and walked one. Megan Ward tripled and Katie Donkers drove in the winning run for the Blue Devils (6-2, 6-1 MVAC). Kennedy Kelly had two hits for the Rockets (4-4-1).

West Branch 10, Louisville 9

BELOIT

Grace Heath went 4 for 5 and Jordan Anderson and Kelsey Byers each had three hits to lead the unbeaten Warriors (12-0, 6-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). West Branch rallied from a 9-7 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Destiny Blake, Hannah Sprague and Kylie Coffelt each had two hits for the Warriors. Heath doubled twice and drove in three runs and Byers also had three RBIs. Sydney McKeever. Teagan Rice and Ellie Jackson each had two hits for the Leopards (11-4, 4-4).

CARROLLTON

Zoe Drake’s three hits included two doubles for the Warriors. Sydney Kline, Taylor Thorpe, Brooke Veglia and Jessica Slocum had hits for Salem (11-4).

Victoria Tedesco recorded 10 assists and putouts in the Rams’ victory.

Taylor Deland contributed three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs for the Blue Devils. Kenedy Vrable, Autumn Oehlstrom and Hannah Deland each had two hits. Vrable drove in six runs and Deland four. Sam Tinsley tossed a four-hitter.

Mathew’s Addy Jarvis threw her third no-hitter of the year. She allowed one walk. Ashley Deans had two hits, Jarvis had three hits, including two home runs, and four RBIs. Alivia Oulten had two hits including a grand slam. She finished with four RBIs for the Mustangs (10-4). Emily Derkach had three hits. MacKinse Spalich took the loss for Maplewood (12-5).

Badger 8, Grand Valley 4

KINSMAN

Ashlee Lennox, Kyler Morgan, Brooke Morgan, Camryn Zec and Emily Sneizik each drove in a run for Badger. Abby Triskett and Daniyele Shreve each had an RBI for Grand Valley. Erica Ramsey allowed four runs, two earned, on 10 hits and struck out five in seven innings of work. Triskett allowed eight runs, five earned, on 12 hits in six innings.

Southington 14, Newbury 2

Haley Hamilton singled, homered and drove in both runs in the Black Knights’ loss.

AKRON

Ashley Wire, Lauren Sienkiewicz and Jackie Grisdale each ripped three hits and Wire scattered five hits as the Bulldogs (11-2) won easily in the Rock ‘n Fire Tournament. Wire and Sienkiewicz each had two RBIs and Sarah Boccieri added a single, triple and two RBIs. Camryn Lattanzio added a single, double and drove in a run.

Canfield 5, Ursuline Academy 3

ASHLAND

Kalin Kovach homered twice and drove in three runs in the Cardinals’ victory in the Wendy’s Classic. KaiLi Gross singled, doubled and drove in a run, Mary Gomez had two hits and Amber Rose had a double for Canfield (9-5). Gross pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven for the victory.

ASHLAND

Brooke Crissman had four hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs in the Cardinals’ victory in the Wendy’s Classic. Gross had three hits, including a double and Jill Baker had two singles and drove in a run.

AKRON

Addy Jarvis was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs. Jarvis had 10 strikeouts, two walks and gave up six hits. She also had three hits, including a solo home run. Alivia Oulten had two hits including a double. Olivia Baupel had two hits.

Champion remains the number-one ranked team in this week’s state poll by softball coaches. The defending Division III state champions received seven of 10 first-place votes cast and have a nine-point lead on Wheelersburg. In Div. IV, Mathews is ninth with 19 points.
