SOFTBALL

Austintown Fitch 6, Wickliffe 0

AKRON

Lydia Spalding did it all for the Falcons (4-5) in a victory over the Blue Devils (5-4) in the Akron Rock ‘n Fire tournament at Akron Firestone Stadium. Spalding pitched a two-hitter amd struck out 13 and aided her own cause with a home run, a single and four RBIs. Lainie Simons also had a big game, going 4 for 4 with two singles, two doubles and four RBIs. Kacie Roth added two hits and an RBI.

Ursuline 11, Garrettsville Garfield 8

AKRON

Gia Caldrone had three hits and Jenna O’Hara hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to put the Irish ahead 8-5 in the Akron Rock ‘n Fire tournament at Akron Firestone Stadium. Jordyn Kenneally singled and doubled while Maris Barbato and Destiny Goodnight each chipped in with two hits. Macy Ross also had an RBI double for Ursuline (13-3). Madi VanKirk had three hits while Katie Synnestvedt and Kiley Carey had two hits each for Garfield.

Late Saturday

Maysville 7, Ursuline 2

AKRON

Caitlin Smallwood hit a two-run home run, Kaitlyn Whitt-Tokie had two hits and four RBIs and Madeline Foster had two hits as Maysville (6-4) beat Ursuline (12-3) in the Akron Rock ‘n Fire tournament at Akron Firestone Stadium. Gia Caldrone and Emma Ericson had RBI singles for the Irish. Foster scattered five hits and struck out six.

Stow-Munroe Falls 12, South Range 2

AKRON

The Bullldogs blew open a 3-1 game with six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jenna Stout went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs for Stow-Munroe Falls (7-2) in the Akron Rock ‘n Fire tournament at Akron Firestone Stadium. Brittany Hoopingarner also had three hits. Madison Weave had three hits for the Raiders (11-4), while Bree Kohler and Hope Thomas each had two. Macie Bell scattered nine hits over six innings for the win.

South Range 7, Tallmadge 5

AKRON

Bree Kohler collected three hits and two RBIs and scattered six hits in the Raiders’ victory in the Akron Rock ‘n Fire tournament at Akron Firestone Stadium. Madison Weave and Marlaina Slabach each had two hits and Hope Thomas drove in two runs. Kennedy Rorar, Jordyn Severns and Autumn Malicoah each had two hits for Tallmadge.

Lowellville 12, Sebring 0

LOWELLVILLE

Isabella Sotlar pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight and Olivia Sotlar had three singles, a double and two RBIs for the Rockets. KC Kelly and Isabella Sotlar each had three hits, with Kelly scoring four runs and Sotlar driving home four. Maddie Kelly added two hits and scored three times.

BASEBALL

Late Saturday

West Branch 7-22, Kiski Prep 1-6

SALTSBURG, PA.

Big innings were the order of the day as the Warriors (12-1) swept a doubleheader. West Branch scored five in the top of the first in the first game, then had two seven-run innings in the second game. Jon Snyder pitched a four-hitter and struck out five in the first game. Seth Schroeder went 3 for 3 and scored twice in the opener and Jake Lyons doubled and drove in two runs. Snyder, Colin Craft Logan Metzgar each had three hits in the second game. T.J. DeShields had two hits and four RBIs for the Warriors. Metzgar drove in three runs.

Jackson-Milton 15, Waterloo 3

STRUTHERS

A 12-run fourth inning powered the Blue Jays over the Vikings in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Showcase at Cene Park. Sebastian Lay, Devan Christoff, James Harris, Like Campbell and Frank Prozy each had two hits for Jackson-Milton (7-5, 6-1). Harris and Prozy each had three RBIs and Lay and Campbell each had two RBIs. Nick Rich scattered five hits over five innings for the win.

LaBrae 9-10, Middlefield Cardinal 4-7

LEAVITTSBURG

Phil Barnhart had three hits and Colton Stoneman, Malakai Roberts, Sam Wells and Damian Airwyke each had two as the Vikings took the first game of a doubleheader. Roberts struck out four and got the win. Parker Koch had two hits for the Huskies. LaBrae spotted Cardinal a 5-1 lead after three innings in the second game, but tied it up with five runs of their own in the fourth, then took the lead with a run in the fifth and three in the sixth. Wells had two hits and Airwayke had a double.

Late Friday

Jackson-Milton 4, Waterloo 2

STRUTHERS

Joey Williams doubled home Sebastian Lay in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 2-2 and then Williams scored on a single by Cole Grope in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Showcase. Williams had three hits and Lay had two for Jackson-Milton. Williams scattered five hits and struck out 12 in a complete-game victory.
