Dickten resigns as aviation director at airport

VIENNA — The Western Reserve Port Authority’s Director of Aviation Dan Dickten has resigned.

Dickten served eight years as director.

His resignation comes as the WRPA’s leaders are in search of new commercial service for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to fill the hole left by Allegiant.

Allegiant flew its last flight at the local airport in January. The airline offered flights to leisure destinations out of the Vienna airport for 11 years.

“The Board of Directors appreciates Dan’s hard work and dedication,” Marty Loney, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority said. “After 8 years, the Board will use this time to reflect on where we have been and explore new opportunities.” John Moliterno, Executive Director of the Port Authority said, “We wish Dan the best in his new endeavors.”

Moliterno will oversee daily operations at the airport during the transition period.
