“Blowin’ Up,” a documentary film written and directed by Boardman native Stephanie Wang-Breal, will premiere this weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

The film looks in on a courtroom in New York City, where women facing prostitution charges can earn a shot at redemption in an experimental program.

“Blowin’ Up” will be screened Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday at different theaters in Manhattan. For details, go to tribecafilm.com.

Wang-Breal, a Boardman High School graduate, is the daughter of Dr. H.S. Wang and Florence Wang of Boardman.

Her previous documentaries include “Wo Ai Ni, Mommy” (“I Love You, Mommy”), which premiered on PBS in 2010; and “Tough Love,” which premiered on PBS in 2015.

“Wo Ai Ni” looks at the adoption of a Chinese child by an American couple, and “Tough Love” focuses on the court system that determines when a child that has been legally removed from a parent can be reunited with him or her.
