The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Baseball Showcase will be staged today and Saturday at Cene Park. Today’s schedule has: Springfield vs. Western Reserve, Field 1, 5 p.m.; Sebring vs. McDonald, Field 2, 5 p.m.; and Waterloo vs. Jackson-Milton, Field 1, 7 p.m. Saturday’s schedule has: Mineral Ridge vs. McDonald, Field 1, 10 a.m.; Jackson-Milton vs. Waterloo, Field 2, 10 a.m.; Lowellville vs. Sebring, Field 1, noon; and Western Reserve vs. Springfield, Field 2, noon.

Allyson Andrews and Sydney Phillips scored the Bulldogs’ only goals in a road loss to the Comets. Poland goalie Carly Boccia made eight saves. Catherine Sicafuse had five ground balls for the Bulldogs and Olivia Barrett and Emillie Franco had four. Franco, Barrett, Phillips and Marisa Ricciardi each had an interception.

Lakeview 7-3, Hubbard 6-1

Avrey Steiner and Lexi Rygalski had two RBIs each for Lakeview in game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep. Steiner and Cait Kelm each had two hits. Kelm had two RBIs in game two and a home run. Kelm was the winning pitcher in both games.
