NORTH JACKSON

Sebastian Lay pitched a no-hitter and struck out 19 in the Blue Jays’ victory.

Lowellville 10, Waterloo 9

STRUTHERS

The Rockets seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a game-ending errors by the Vikings. Waterloo scored six runs in the second inning, but Lowellville forced extra innings with four runs in the seventh. Bryan Harris, Nate Solak, Anthony Petrovich and Vinnie Kacir drove runs in the inning. Harris earned the win Lowellville. He surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out three. Petrovich threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen.

South Range 5, Ursuline 2

STRUTHERS

South Range scored three runs in the fifth and two runs in the seventh. Jake Gehring got the win for the Raiders (5-7). Gehring pitched a complete game and allowed four hits and struck out seven. Glen Griswold pitched a complete game for the Irish (5-7). Griswold allowed eight hits, three walks and struck out five. Brycen James drove in two runs for South Range. Jared Bajerski, Ben Rivera and Brandon Youngs each hit a double for the Raiders.

Boardman 6, Canfield 2

STRUTHERS

Boardman’s Dom Stilliani and Luke Cardillo both went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Alex Cardona got the win for the Spartans (8-5, 4-1 AAC). He had eight strikeouts and one walk. Jimmy Fitzgerald was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Jack Rafoth went five innings in the loss for the Cardinals. He struck out three and walked two.

Liberty 6, Newton Falls 0

NEWTON FALLS

Trevor Strohmeyer scattered six hits in pitching a shutout for the Leopards (9-4, 7-2 All-American Conference Blue Tier). He struck out three and didn’t walk a batter. Dwight Parker went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs for Liberty. James Spisak, David Sewell and Kevin Hawn each added two hits. Spisak doubled twice. Ethan Wolford had two hits for the Tigers (1-5).

Austintown Fitch 9, Warren Harding 3

WARREN

Kole Klasic had three hits and Jeremiah Papa, Nick Bianco, Mike Grazier and Vinny DiRenzo each had two as the Falcons (10-3) beat the Raiders. Tommy Pitko worked five innings, scattered four hits and struck out five for the win.

Girard 8, Campbell 1

GIRARD

Nick DeGregory tossed a five-inning two-hitter for the Indians. Tyler O’Dell had two hits and scored twice. David Blackmon also scored two runs. For the Red Devils, Marc Elash and Seth Jackson singled.

West Branch 6, Carrollton 3

CARROLLTON

In six innings, TJ DeShields (4-0) allowed one run and scattered five hits, striking out nine and walking two to get the win. Seth Schroeder and Jon Snyder had two hits for the Warriors (9-1, 5-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference) Brant Alazaus and Josh Stabler doubled while DeShields scored twice. Carrollton is 2-9 (1-6).

Mathews 13, Lordstown 1

VIENNA

The Mustangs spotted the Red Devils a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but it was short-lived. Mathews (8-1) put up 10 runs in the bottom of the inning on its way to a five-inning Northeastern Athletic Conference rout. Jake Miller allowed only one hit and struck out seven for the win and helped his own cause with two hits. Zach Rhodanz paced the Mustangs with three hits and three RBIs, Brandon Smith had two hits and two RBIs and Gabe Canter and T.J. Moskal also drove in two runs each. Jake and Andy Miller each had a double.

Western Reserve 7, Columbiana 6

BERLIN CENTER

Dallas Smith had three hits and drove in two runs, including the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth, as the Blue Devils (6-2, 4-0 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference) beat the Clippers in a game shortened by five innings. Ryan Demsky singled and doubled, drove in two runs, walked twice and stole two bases. Caleb Quinn singled and walked and had two RBIs. Smith (2-0) got the win in relief of Demsky. Chase Franken had three hits, including a triple, for Columbiana (4-7). Erik Hopfenziz drove in two runs.

SOFTBALL

South Range 7, Cardinal Mooney 4

BOARDMAN

The Raiders (10-3) erupted for five runs in the sixth inning. Drew Feren drove in three runs with her two hits. Maddie Helon had three singles while Madison Weaver doubled and singled. Hanna Dennison also had two hits. Abby Bokros hit a two-run double. For the Cardinals (7-1), Kayla Rutherford hit a two-run double, CJ Sapp had two hits and Caitie Perry homered.

Ursuline 5, LaBrae 3

YOUNGSTOWN

Jordyn Kenneally picked up her seventh win of the year and struck out eight as the Irish (11-1) beat the Vikings. Emily Holland had a double, triple and three RBIs for Ursuline and Maris Barbato added two singles and a double. Jenna O’Hara also hit a double and an RBI single for the Irish. M. Sisler and A. Geordan had three hits each for the Vikings.

Canfield 13, Boardman 3

BOARDMAN

Kalin Kovach hit a three-run home run and a triple, scored three runs and drove in four in the Cardinals’ five-inning rout of the Spartans. KaiLi Gross singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs for Canfield (7-4, 3-0 All-American Conference Red Tier) and Jill Baker singled and doubled. Amber Rose added two singles. Gross (7-3) allowed three hits and struck out seven. Paige Dill had two doubles and Kathryn O’Horo had a double and two RBIs for Boardman.

Poland 15, Howland 4

POLAND

Monica Kurjan (6-0) threw a five-inning complete game for the Bulldogs (10-1), 4-1 AAC Red Tier). Sarah Boccieri’s four hits included a double and she scored four runs. Ashley Wire had three hits and three runs scored. Brooke Bobbey’s three hits included a double and she scored three times. Jackie Grisdale contributed three hits. The Tigers are 1-5.

Mineral Ridge 9, Struthers 8

STRUTHERS

Ariel LaNeve had three hits including a double, four RBIs and scored twice. Noelle Bukovina had two hits and an RBI for Mineral Ridge. Lauren Vukovich had three hits and scored once, and Trinity Farrar had two hits and scored twice. Julia Neifer had two hits including a double and two RBIs, and Macie Smith had two doubles, two RBIs and scored once. Khaylah Brown and Adrianna Leonard each had a home run for Struthers.

Springfield 16, Sebring 0

SEBRING

Junior Jacqueline Kish tossed the second no-hitter of the day for Springfield as it defeated Sebring 16-0 to complete the doubleheader sweep. Kish struck out eight and issued one walk. Makenzy Capouellez had a double and a single with four RBIs for the Tigers (8-3, 5-2). Cassie Bacon added a single and a triple and drove in three runs. Molly Pontius smacked a single and a double and drove in two. Carlee Bacon hit a pair of doubles, scored three times and stole two bases. Kaelen Yemma added a single and a double, drove in one run and scored twice. Kish added a pair of singles and drove in one. Rebecca Catlos scored a pair of runs and stole two bases. Abby Joseph had an RBI triple.

West Branch 2, Holy Name 1

BELOIT

West Branch’s Kelsey Byers hit a one-out walkoff home run in the bottom of the eighth to keep the Warriors undefeated. West Branch (8-0) tied the game at 1 on a one-out RBI triple by Hannah Sprague in the seventh. Kylie Coffelt (3-0) got the win. Coffelt struck out 13 and allowed six hits in eight innings. Nikki Camorah struck out 12 in eight innings for Holy Name (10-2).

Salem 2, Beaver Local 0

SALEM

Sydney Kline had two hits, stole a base and scored a run for the Quakers (10-2). Hayden Carner singled home an insurance run in the sixth inning. Taylor Thorpe struck out 15 in the complete game three-hit shutout. Brooke Veglia and Taylor Thorpe had the other Salem hits. For Beaver Local, freshman Cierra Thurik allowed five hits. Cierra Thurik, Leah Pancake and Morgan Bouscher had hits.

Toronto 4, Lisbon 3

TORONTO

Autumn Oehlstrom’s three hits included two doubles for the Blue Devils. Emma Thompson and Kenedy Vrable had two hits, One of Thompson’s was a double.

Grand Valley 14, Newbury 2

NEWBURY

Newbury’s Haley Hamilton 2 for 3 with a RBI and Kenzie Eggleston 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Emma Bock was the losing pitcher for Newbury. Bock allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in four innings.

Windham 17, Badger 7

WINDHAM

After Badger took a 5-4 lead, Windham scored 11 runs in the third and fourth inning. Windham scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Badger allowed nine hits and 19 walks. Sabrina Garl went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and four runs scored for Windham. Every Windham player drove in a least one run. Madison Karr and Hannah Wareham drove in one run each for Badger. Tara Vansteenberg pitched three innnings for Windham. Vansteenberg allowed three runs, one earned, on four walks and a hit.
