Ohio receives $26M in fed grants to fight opioid crisis

YOUNGSTOWN — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services today awarded $26 million in grants to Ohio to help combat the opioid epidemic in the state.

The funding is the second of two rounds of money provided from the 21st Century Cures Act. Overall, $485 million is being distributed across the nation.

“Combating this crisis will take serious resources that the federal government can provide,” said U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th. “We will only be able to fight this together, and this funding will help communities continue to push back against this horrible epidemic, and help start rebuilding neighborhoods that are suffering.”
