Jazz up a grilled cheese sandwich by serving it open-faced with sliced tomatoes and a sprinkling of oregano. Feel free to include other vegetables, such as sliced avocado, thinly sliced onion or roasted red pepper strips.

4 slices multigrain bread, lightly toasted

8 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese (1 ounce each)

2 plum tomatoes, cut into 16 thin slices

1 teaspoon McCormick Oregano Leaves

Top each bread slice with 2 cheese slices, 4 tomato slices and 1/4 teaspoon of the oregano.

Broil 4 to 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Pizza Grilled Cheese

Two of a kid’s favorite foods are combined into one tasty sandwich.

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1/4 teaspoon McCormick Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning

3 tablespoons butter, softened

8 slices Italian bread

8 slices mozzarella cheese, 1-ounce slices

16 pepperoni slices

Mix pizza sauce and Italian seasoning. Set aside. Butter 1 side of each of the bread slices. Layer 2 slices of cheese on each of 4 bread slices with buttered side down. Spread with pizza sauce mixture. Top each with 4 pepperoni slices then remaining bread slices with buttered side up.

Place sandwiches in large skillet or griddle on medium-low heat. Cook 3 to 4 minutes per side or until bread is browned and cheese is melted. Cook in batches if necessary.

Cinnamon Raisin Grilled Cheese

If you prefer a sweet grilled cheese sandwich instead of a savory one, try this version. Cream cheese and vanilla-accented raspberry jam are spread on cinnamon raisin bread before toasting up warm and golden brown.
