ESPN’s Herbstreit honored guest at United Way fundraiser

YOUNGSTOWN — ESPN’s Kirk Herbrsteit will speak at the United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley’s 13th annual Champions Among Us fundraiser on May 17 at the Lake Club in Poland.

“The Youngstown area has such strong ties to college football. It’s a great sports town, and I’m excited to be there for the Champions Among Us event,” Herbstreit said in a statement.

The former Ohio State University quarterback has provided commentary on ESPN’s College Gameday for 22 seasons.

Bob Hannon, president of United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley, said the event is the organization’s largest funder raiser of the year.

All money raised stays in the Mahoning Valley and goes toward United Way education programs and initiatives.
