Mallex Smith had four hits and Blake Snell struck out nine to help Tampa Bay stop a four-game losing streak with a win over Texas. Smith bunted for a single against starter Martin Perez (1-2) in a four-run second inning that gave the Rays a 5-0 lead. He doubled and scored in the third on his way to a second four-hit game in eight days. Snell (2-1) gave up one run and five hits in 61/3 innings, the third time this season a Tampa Bay starter has pitched at least six innings. Joey Gallo hit his sixth home run to get Texas on the board in the fourth. Nomar Mazara added a three-run shot in the eighth off reliever Chih-Wei Hu. C.J. Cron hit his second homer and Daniel Robertson connected for his first off Perez, who gave up seven runs and 10 hits in four innings.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Braves 2, Phillies 1

ATLANTA

Julio Teheran outpitched Aaron Nola for a rare night of success at SunTrust Park and Atlanta snapped Philadelphia’s six-game winning streak with a victory. Teheran (1-1) allowed one run, five hits and three walks with nine strikeouts in six innings. After setup man A.J. Minter escaped a shaky eighth, Atlanta closer Arodys Vizcaino retired two of the first three batters he faced for his first save of the season. Nola (1-1) gave up four hits, two runs and two walks in six innings. Kurt Suzuki’s sacrifice fly in the fourth inning scored Ozzie Albies to put the Braves up 2-1. Herrera’s first homer of the season made it 1-0 in the first.

Nationals 8, Mets 6

NEW YORK

Bryce Harper hit a startling, broken-bat homer early, then grounded a key single during a six-run surge in the eighth inning that sent Washington past New York. The Nationals rallied against five pitchers in their big burst, winning for just the fourth time in 13 games. Trailing 6-1, Washington combined five hits, three walks and a hit batter to take the lead. Harper’s two-run single off Jerry Blevins made it 6-3. Howie Kendrick added a solo homer in the ninth. Harper broke his bat into two pieces, but the ball still flew an estimated 406 feet to right-center field. Harper connected for a solo drive in the first inning off Jacob deGrom. DeGrom struck out 12 in 71/3 innings He was cruising when he left with two on, one out and a five-run lead. He also drove in a run with a safety squeeze. A.J. Cole (1-1) got the win despite giving up Asdrubal Cabrera’s two-run homer in the seventh that made it 6-1. Ryan Madson got his second save. AJ Ramos (0-1) took the loss. Nationals starter Jeremy Hellickson gave up two runs in 42/3 innings of his Nationals debut.

Reds 10, Brewers 4

MILWAUKEE

Billy Hamilton drove in three runs and Cincinnati ended an eight-game losing streak with a win over Milwaukee. The Reds won for just the third time in 16 games this season. Cincinnati starter Luis Castillo (1-2) shut out the Brewers for six innings before allowing four runs in the seventh. He went 62/3 innings, giving up five hits while striking out eight and walking three. The Reds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on Tucker Barnhart’s RBI single and Hamilton’s two-run single. The Reds broke the game open in the sixth, scoring six runs and hitting four doubles off Milwaukee reliever Oliver Drake. Cincinnati sent 10 batters to the plate. Milwaukee starter Brent Suter (1-2) allowed three runs and six hits over five innings and struck out four.

INTERLEAGUE

Yankees 12, Marlins 1

NEW YORK

Didi Gregorius homered twice for the second time this season, Gary Sanchez had three hits and three RBIs, and New York romped to a victory over Derek Jeter’s Miami Marlins. Giancarlo Stanton went hitless and got booed again by the hometown fans in his first game against his former team. Aaron Judge became the fastest major leaguer to hit 60 career homers, and Gregorius finished with three RBIs. New York scored in each of the first five innings and built an 11-0 lead. Luis Severino (3-1) allowed one hit in six scoreless innings and struck out eight. Judge hit his fourth home run this season and reached 60 in 197 games, five fewer than Mark McGwire. Stanton went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts, a bases-loaded foulout, a walk and was hit by a pitch. Gregorius hit a two-run homer in the fourth off the second deck in right and a solo drive in the seventh. Left-hander Caleb Smith (0-2) allowed his first three batters to reach, needed 42 pitches to get the first three outs and lasted just 21/3 innings and 84 pitches. He allowed five runs, five hits and five walks.
