Cushwa Hall to host film premiere, Q&A

YOUNGSTOWN

Cushwa Hall Room B100, 210 Lincoln Ave., on the campus of Youngstown State University, will host the film premiere of “The Reason We’re Still Here” at 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a question and answer session with the filmmaker. The short documentary is based in Youngstown and focuses on the fight to protect the water and the fight to protect economic livelihood. The film provides a window into this conflict in hopes of allowing space for empathy to transcend social divides. Sofia Smith-Hale is a documentary filmmaker who is interested in using art as a tool for community building and social change. Her work focuses on documenting the voices of people whose stories are excluded from mainstream media. The film replaces the previously scheduled Skype lecture, Climate Without Borders. Jill Peeters canceled the talk. To register for this free event, visit http://bit.ly/2H3ioX1.
